How to Build an Aesthetic Cheese Board

Make Cheese the Hero

It might go without saying but you’ve got to start with a strong base. This is where we recommend splurging a little and investing in 3 main show-stoppers - a soft cheese like a Brie, a harder cheese like a Manchego and for fruit-cheese-lovers (controversial, we know, but they look STUNNING on a cheeseboard), some kind of cranberry adorned, almond crusted number. Blue cheese is a real divider but if it’s a big group - go for this as your fourth option.

Get Weird Fruit

Whilst seemingly counterintuitive, the weirder the fruit you can adorn your cheeseboard with - the fancier it will look. Grapes are a solid staple but how about some lychees, kiwi-berries and persimmons? The goal is to get fruit you wouldn’t have on a standard week in your fruit bowl at home. If you literally have no idea what it is but it looks cool - grab it and try it with friends.

Diversify Your Crackers

Believe us when we say that you’re going to want to have at LEAST two kinds of crackers - maybe a Lavosh and something quite plain and then we love anything from Olina’s Bakehouse. Seeded and dotted with dried fruit always looks incredible. Side note to look out for your sweet GF pals when making your cracker selections.

Decant Your Quince

If you’re going all in with your board, you’re going to need little ‘toppers’ for your cheese and crackers - a good quince paste is a must. Eliminate any plastic from your cheese board and decant your paste into a mini espresso cup - we love these babies from Milly Dent.

Fill Empty Space with Little Yums

We’re talking nuts, dark chocolate, mini dried fruits. We don’t want to even SEE that board underneath until everyone has a full stomach of snacks.
